Sport Mouth Guards
Protect your smile from injury and damage
THREE TYPES OF MOUTH GUARDS AVAILABLE
Sport Mouth Guards
More people than ever are participating in sports. For some sports, the need for safety equipment is obvious.
Mouthguards can protect more than just your teeth. A mouthguard helps distribute the force evenly throughout the skull, lessening the chance of concussions or other serious injuries. They also protect the tongue and cheeks from being cut by the teeth during impact.
WHEN SHOULD SOMEONE WEAR A MOUTHGUARD?
People should wear a mouthguard whenever they are involved in an activity with a risk of falls or of head contact with other players or equipment. We usually think of football and hockey as the most dangerous sports for teeth, but nearly half of sports-related mouth injuries occur in basketball and baseball.

TYPES OF MOUTHGUARDS
FORMED or "BOIL AND BITE" MOUTHGUARD
This is a very typical choice because of its cost but it does not provide a great deal of protection or comfort.
READY-MADE STOCK MOUTHGUARD
This type is also less costly and works in the same manner as the “boil and bite” application
CUSTOM MADE MOUTHGUARD
These mouthguards provide the most protection and are custom made by a denturist. They also provide the most comfortable and relaxed fit in the mouth, along with the ability to speak, and breath much more naturally than with the other choices. Custom-made mouthguards can be fabricated with a helmet strap attachment to prevent loss, and can be fabricated in a variety of colors.
